Get an insurance quote
Tell Nikki Tehara, a licensed BC insurance broker, what you need covered and the request goes straight to a person, not a call centre. It works for any address in British Columbia, takes a few minutes, and asks only the questions that apply to the cover you pick.
What to expect
- 1. Tell me what you needPick the cover and answer the questions that apply. One at a time, saved as you go.
- 2. I do the shoppingI take it to the markets available through InsureBC, or process the Autoplan transaction if that is what you need.
- 3. Options come back to youBy phone, text or email, whichever you picked, with the trade-offs explained, not just a number.
What you will need on hand
None of this has to be exact. Rough answers are fine, and anything that matters gets confirmed before a policy is issued.
- Home or condo: the address, roughly when it was built, and what you know about the roof, heating, wiring and plumbing. For a condo, the strata deductibles if the strata policy is nearby.
- Vehicle: year, make and model. The VIN and your licence number are optional and can be confirmed by phone.
- Business: what the business does, roughly what it turns over, and who is asking you for a certificate of insurance.
- Course of construction: the site, the construction value, the start and finish dates, and who is building.
- Marine: year, make, model, length, engines, value, and where it is kept.
ICBC Autoplan is different. Autoplan is not quoted or sold through this website. ICBC offers online renewal for eligible policies; everything else is completed with a broker. Basic rates are set by ICBC and are the same at every broker. Send the details here and Nikki will confirm your options. Renewals can be done over the phone; new plates, and buying or selling a vehicle, are done in person at a broker office. See ICBC on costs and coverage.
Common questions
How long does the quote form take?
Most people finish in about three to nine minutes, depending on the cover. It asks one question or a small group at a time, shows only the questions that apply to you, and tells you how many are left. Your answers are kept as you go, so going back a step or reloading the page loses nothing. They are cleared when you close the tab.
What do I need to have on hand?
For a home or condo, the address, roughly when it was built, and what you know about the roof, heating, wiring and plumbing. For a vehicle, the year, make and model. For a boat, the year, make, model and value. For business, a description of what you do and your revenue band. Rough answers are fine; anything unclear gets confirmed by phone.
Is this an application for insurance?
No. This is a request for a quote. Nothing is bound and no coverage is in place until a licensed broker confirms it in writing. Submitting the form does not obligate you to buy anything, and there is no charge for a quote.
Can I get ICBC Autoplan through this form?
You can start it here, but the Autoplan transaction itself is completed with a broker rather than on this website. ICBC sets Basic rates. Renewals can be done with Nikki over the phone; new plates, and buying or selling a vehicle, are done in person at a broker office. Use the form to send the details and Nikki will confirm the options.
What happens after I submit?
The request goes straight to Nikki by email. You will be contacted using the method you chose on the form. If anything is missing or unclear, that is sorted out first, then the markets are shopped and the options come back to you.
