Who Nikki is

Nikki Tehara, licensed BC insurance broker

Nikki Tehara (licensed as Parambir Tehara) is a Level 2 General Insurance Agent and ICBC Autoplan broker, licensed by the Insurance Council of British Columbia and working through InsureBC (Squamish) Insurance Services Ltd. The Sea to Sky corridor is the core of the practice, but the licence covers the whole province and most files run by phone and email anyway.

When you contact Nikki, you deal with Nikki directly rather than a call centre queue. Lines quoted include home, condo, townhome and high-value home insurance, including rented, seasonal and vacant property, ICBC Autoplan, business and commercial insurance, course of construction, and marine cover. Nikki also reviews existing policies at no charge. For anything else, call or text 778-710-7477.

A few working principles shape every file. Nikki would rather say you do not need something than sell it to you. Nikki would rather ask an awkward question when the policy is written than have it surface at a claim. And when a risk is genuinely not a good fit to place, Nikki would rather say so than take the business and do it badly.

What a Level 2 licence actually permits

General insurance licences in British Columbia are issued in levels by the Insurance Council of British Columbia. In general terms, a Level 1 licence is a salesperson licence: Level 1 licensees normally work under the supervision of senior licensees at their agency. A Level 2 licence permits acting as a general insurance agent without that direct supervision: advising clients, comparing insurers and completing policy work on the agency’s behalf.

The practical consequence for you is simple: the broker you deal with through this site is licensed to handle the file end to end. The Council publishes the licence classes and their conditions on its website; nothing here replaces those rules.

What “placed through InsureBC” means for you

Every policy quoted through this site is placed through InsureBC (Squamish) Insurance Services Ltd. That is not small print for its own sake; it is how broker licensing works in this province. Individual agents act on behalf of a licensed agency, and the agency holds the contracts with the insurance companies, so the agency is the brokerage named on your policy documents.

For a client, that structure means three practical things:

  • Quotes are compared across the insurers InsureBC represents, not fitted to a single company’s shelf.
  • Both the individual broker and the agency are licensed by, and answerable to, the Insurance Council of British Columbia.
  • Your file exists at the agency level, with InsureBC (Squamish) Insurance Services Ltd.: it does not live in one inbox.

How remote service works across BC

Working with Nikki does not require visiting an office. In practice, a file runs like this:

  • Phone and email carry the conversation: what you own, what worries you, what the options cost.
  • Documents come by email. Applications, quotes, policy wordings and confirmations of insurance are all delivered electronically.
  • Signatures are electronic. Signing requests arrive by email and work on any device, with completed copies returned the same way. No printer, no scanner.
  • ICBC Autoplan is the partial exception. Autoplan is not sold through this website. ICBC offers online renewal for eligible policies, and new plates, vehicle transfers and dealership purchases are completed with a broker.

Whether you are in Victoria, Prince George, Kelowna or Fort St. John, the process is the same one a client across the street gets.

Common questions

What does using a broker cost?

Nothing directly. Brokers are compensated by the insurers they place business with, so the quote you get already reflects that. For ICBC Basic Autoplan the price is set by ICBC and is the same at every broker, so where you complete your Autoplan does not change what you pay.

Does Nikki only work with people in the Sea to Sky?

No. The licence covers all of British Columbia and most of the work happens by phone and email anyway. A client in Victoria, Kelowna or Prince George goes through the same process as one down the street.

Is Nikki an ICBC Autoplan broker?

Yes. Renewals, transfers, new plates and optional coverage can all be handled, in many cases without a visit to an office. Autoplan is not sold through this website. ICBC offers online renewal for eligible policies, and new plates, vehicle transfers and dealership purchases are completed with a broker, so those start with a call or an email.

How does signing documents electronically work?

Documents arrive by email as an electronic signing request. You review them on any device, sign electronically and everyone receives a completed copy for their records. No printer or scanner is needed. Anything that genuinely cannot be signed this way can usually be handled by mail, but for most personal insurance the whole file is completed electronically.

What is the difference between a broker and buying direct from an insurer?

A single insurer can only offer its own products. A broker places business with multiple insurance companies through the agency, so one conversation about your situation gets compared across several markets before anything is recommended. The recommendation is not tied to any one company being the answer, and being told you do not need something is part of the job.

Can Nikki review a policy bought somewhere else?

Yes. Send the policy documents by email and Nikki will go through what is covered, what is excluded and where the limits sit. Sometimes the outcome is a quote worth comparing, and sometimes it is confirmation that what you already have holds up. Both count as a good result.

How do I get started?

The quote tool on this site takes a few minutes, one question at a time, and saves as you go. Prefer a conversation first? Call 778-710-7477 or email [email protected]. Either way the next step is the same: a licensed broker looks at the details and comes back with options to talk through.
